Hazelnut Affogato

TOTAL TIME: 20 minutes

  • SERVINGS: Serves 6

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 tablespoons hazelnuts

  • 2-14 ounce containers of high quality vanilla or hazelnut ice cream

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat oven to 350º. Spread hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast until fragrant and skins are splitting, about 15-20 minutes, rotating and shaking pan after 10 minutes. Let cool. Rub off skins by hand or with a kitchen towel. Chop coarsely. Set aside.

  2. Place 6 small bowls or glasses on a tray. Scoop 2 small to medium size scoops of ice cream into each. Top each with 1 tablespoon chopped nuts. Serve immediately, each with a shot of espresso alongside, or poured over ice cream at the table.
